November 13,2003 - VIDEOGAMES: Sony's design plans for their upcoming PSP handheld console

While Sony's Corporate Strategy Meeting in New York, Ken Kutaragi unveiled his vision of the company's entertainment future. A vision which included our first glimpse of Sony's design plans for their upcoming PSP handheld console.

PSP handheld console is an all-in-one handheld game system that includes a digital music and video player and could even act as mobile telephone. The PSP? promised versatility and processing prowess will make it a hard contender against the GBA, Nokia N-Gage and Apple iPod.

The PSP concept presented by Kutaragi has a letterbox 16:9 LCD screen that is 4.5 inches in diameter, a directional pad, and 4 traditional Playstation buttons all flush with the unit front. Instead of using ROM cartridges like the GBA, the PSP will use 1.8GB, 60mm-wide Universal Media Discs.

While keeping in mind that the plans are purely a concept design and therefore, by no means the final product design, it is certain that the screen will maintain its dominant position on the PSP's surface, making it the most impressive as well as powerful, handheld video game console, or so it will be once it is launched in a year's time.

Here is the lowdown on the PSP including its hardware specs and a photo of the prototype.

November 05,2003 - MUSIC: Why The Picture Of Placebo Is Great ?

Really I don't know.

But personally I just like the way the woman's face is pixelated in the video clip of "This Picture". Not the common way you see everywhere. They used typical digital video pixelisation which happens during bad compression of the stream. And as I'm an editor, I like too the shuttle the singer uses to scan the woman at the end of the clip. ;)
